Our people
Our own people, recruited locally
Most of our work is carried out by AGL's own directly employed tradespeople and site managers, many of whom live in Barnet and across North London. Specialist trades are brought in only where a project needs them, and they work to the same standards as our own teams.
A directly employed workforce
We employ our own multi-trade teams — plumbers and heating engineers, electricians, carpenters, plasterers, roofers, bricklayers, painters and decorators, tilers and floorers — led by our own site managers and supervisors. Employing people directly means we control quality, programme and conduct on every site, and our clients deal with one company from start to finish.
Recruited locally
We are based in the London Borough of Barnet, and we recruit locally. Much of our workforce lives in Barnet and North London, close to the communities we work in, so the wages from our contracts go into local households.
Specialist trades
Where a project needs a particular specialism or qualification, we bring in specialists we trust. They are vetted before they start, inducted on every site and supervised by our own site managers, so the standard on site never depends on whose name is on the badge.
Training and development
Everyone on our team holds the CSCS card for their role. We invest in ongoing training — Site Management Safety Training Scheme for our site managers and supervisors, and asbestos awareness, first aid at work, working at height and manual handling across the workforce — and we give our people room to grow.
Fair treatment
We offer competitive pay and a supportive, collaborative place to work. Anyone on our sites can raise a concern — about safety, conduct or anything else — directly with their site manager or with the office, and it will be acted on. We do not tolerate exploitation of any kind, in our business or in the specialists we work with.
