What we collect
The website asks for personal information in two places: the enquiry form on our contact page, and our community help form. The enquiry form collects:
- the type of enquiry, such as landlord, homeowner or looking for work
- your name
- your organisation, if you have one
- your email address
- your telephone number, if you give it
- the postcode of the property or site, if you give it
- your message
The type of enquiry, your name, email address and message are required. Everything else is optional. If you email us a CV after reading our careers page, we treat it as part of your job application.
The community help form collects who the help is for, your name, your group, school or charity if you are asking for one, your email address, your telephone number if you give it, the postcode where help is needed, what needs doing and when. If you are asking on behalf of someone else, such as a neighbour, please share only what we need to consider the request, and let them know you have contacted us.
Like any website, the pages are delivered by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic information about your browser in order to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. We do not use this information to identify or track you.
How we use it
We use what you send us only to:
- answer your enquiry
- prepare a quote, if you ask for one
- consider your application, if you are looking for work
- consider and arrange a community help request
We do not use it for marketing, and we make no automated decisions about you.
Our lawful basis
- Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): answering the people who contact us, and running this website.
- Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)): preparing a quote you have asked for, or considering your application for work.
Who else handles it
Two service providers handle enquiries for us. Both act as our processors, which means they may use the information only on our instructions.
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website and stores enquiries in a database it runs for us.
- Resend, an email delivery provider, forwards each enquiry to our inbox.
We share enquiries with no one else, and we never sell them. We would disclose information to anyone else only if the law required it.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of this processing may take place outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where it does, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards: the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: we keep an enquiry only as long as we need it to deal with the enquiry and any work that follows, and then delete it.
- Job applications: if your application is unsuccessful, we keep it, with any CV you sent, for up to 6 months, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use this website, such as which pages are read and how visitors find us. It only runs if you choose Accept analytics in the banner shown on your first visit. Until then, nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookie is set.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_3FEMZGYF1Q, which last for up to two years and let it recognise repeat visits. Google processes this information for us; its privacy policy explains how. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page; choosing Reject removes the analytics cookies. Your choice itself is stored in your browser, not in a cookie.
We also count how many times our directors' digital business cards are viewed and their contact details saved. This count records only the card, the action and the time: no cookie, no IP address and nothing that identifies you.
The only other cookie belongs to the private admin area. When AGL staff sign in, Cloudflare Access sets a strictly necessary cookie, CF_Authorization, to keep them signed in. Visitors who do not sign in never receive it.
The pages load their fonts from Google Fonts. To send the fonts to your browser, Google receives your IP address.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- rectification: ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- erasure: ask us to delete your information
- restriction: ask us to limit how we use it
- objection: object to our using it
- portability: ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
Some of these rights apply only in certain circumstances. To use any of them, email info@aglcs.co.uk or call 020 8591 7196. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the website, or the way we handle personal information, changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
